Hello and happy week before Christmas. It is right around the corner and most definitely in the air as decorations are everywhere, and the reality of Christmas is on every street corner and in every store. As this special holiday quickly approaches, I hope you have found some time in your busy schedules to watch a new or favored Christmas movie, as there are so many good ones to see. Elf and The Holiday are both one of our favorites. I am almost embarrassed to say that Four Christmases is a yearly enjoyment as well, just sayin'. To redeem ourselves, we did expand our movie watching to the original White Christmas from 1954 and the movie Holiday Inn, created in 1942. It was the first time we watched these two movies and we loved them! Hopefully you have enjoyed some tasty treats as there are so many yummy flavors to consume and savor in goodies and beverages this time of year. My hubby and I start to perk up every year as Thanksgiving approaches. We love all the flavors that are readily available during this holiday season.
Maybe you look forward to taking a drive and checking out all the amazing Christmas lights and colorful scenic decor in nearby neighborhoods. Maybe it is Christmas music that makes you happy or doesn't lol, as people either love it or loath it. I admit, I kinda get the warm and fuzzies when I hear the familiar notes in the intro to, "Chestnuts....." Or maybe you are one of those people who just want Christmas to be done and gone. If you are, I am so sorry for whatever has happened in your past to make you feel this way. Holidays can be a sensitive time in one way or another. I know it is easy to miss loved ones that will not be a part of the yearly festivities. I get it, as my husband and I have lost 5 very close family members in the last six years. Whatever it may be that is adding to your distaste this season, I want to take a moment to say, I am praying that the love of God will cover you with a blanket of peace and shower you with joy today and every day. I would also like to add that if anyone gets it, Jesus does. He was given to every one of us, as an eternal gift of God in the form of a human, who felt every emotion from happiness and joy to utter torture, as He journeyed in His earthly body for 33 years.
Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Advent has been in my mind over the last few weeks. It was created to prepare us spiritually four weeks in advance to Christmas Day. I have never really followed closely what each day represents before Christmas, so I thought this would be a good time to do it as we are only one week out. Better late than never they say! I am so blessed that after praying to The Lord for guidance this AM before delving into this post, He gave me the title before I even knew what I was going to write. As I began, I got the idea of adding some information for Advent and was directed to this fantastic sight. I clicked on the first short video, and was given the conformation I was looking for, knowing I was on the right track. It was titled "Peace."
I encourage you to take 5 to 20 minutes to watch 4 short videos that pertain to Advent on Hope, Peace, Love, and Joy. Four subjects we could all use a little more of in our lives. These video's could be just what we need to consume over a hot peppermint mocha this holiday season. They truly made me smile and I hope they do the same for you. There are many short, animated videos, pertaining to other subjects on this unique site.
